Expo '85 park in autumn

A promenade that runs through part of this park.

Some people lie on their back to read down there.

Ginkgo leaves and nut.

A clock monument that was built 2 years after Expo '85.

A relic of the exposition that stands tall even in the 21st century.

These two pictures were used as the symbols of the expo. The right one was thought up by a kid when this big event was under consideration.

An scientific exposition was held in '85 in my city. It attracted more than 20 million people in half a year. 111 countries, 37 international organizations participated in it and there were 49 pavilions open to people. And this park was the site where this exposition was held, and now it is used as a park where people can play tennis, football, and walk around.

We Japanese people think of a ginkgo tree as one of the symbols of autumn and I could see lots of ginkgo leaves turning yellow. I use this park for the purpose of playing tennis, as it's one of my hobbies, but many people come to this place in order to just relax.

It is getting colder day by day in Japan, but the average high of this week is about 20 degrees (Celsius), so it is warm enough for those who want to enjoy sports. And as the night is longer in fall in Japan, they say this is also the best time for us to read a lot.
